This self-guided tour introduces Tetouan, whose medina has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997. You start at the Archaeological Museum, with its Roman mosaics from Lixus, then enter the medina to see the Great Mosque and reach Bab el-Okla, whose bastion houses the town's museum of arts. The tour ends at the ancient site of Tamuda, a few kilometres away in the Martil valley. Allow half a day to a full day. Take a taxi to Tamuda, and check the museums' opening days: they are usually closed on Tuesdays.
